Is the Antminer S21+ profitable?

The Bitmain Antminer S21+ (235T) mines Bitcoin on the SHA-256 algorithm at 235 TH/s, drawing 3,877 W (16.5 J/TH). At $0.08 per kWh it earns about $8.83 a day, spends $7.44 of that on power, and keeps $1.38. That’s around $41 a month. It stops making money above roughly $0.095 per kWh.

That puts it #107 of 522 on daily profit across every miner we track, and #67 of 262 SHA-256 miners on efficiency. At the current best price of $2,624 it would pay for itself in about 5.3 years if today’s numbers held. They won’t, so treat that as a rough guide. It’s an air-cooled unit, released in June 2024.
