Is the Avalon Q profitable?

The Canaan Avalon Q (90T) mines Bitcoin on the SHA-256 algorithm at 90 TH/s, drawing 1,674 W (18.6 J/TH). At $0.08 per kWh it earns about $3.38 a day, spends $3.21 of that on power, and keeps $0.17. That’s around $5 a month. It stops making money above roughly $0.084 per kWh.

That puts it #158 of 522 on daily profit across every miner we track, and #107 of 262 SHA-256 miners on efficiency. At the current best price of $2,481 it would pay for itself in about 41.5 years if today’s numbers held. They won’t, so treat that as a rough guide. It’s an air-cooled unit, released in April 2025.
