Is the Whatsminer M3 profitable?

The MicroBT Whatsminer M3 mines Bitcoin on the SHA-256 algorithm at 12 TH/s, drawing 2,000 W (167 J/TH). At $0.08 per kWh it earns about $0.45 a day but spends $3.84 on power, so it loses $3.39 a day. It only makes money if your power costs less than about $0.009 per kWh.

That puts it #446 of 522 on daily profit across every miner we track, and #256 of 262 SHA-256 miners on efficiency. It isn’t in stock with us at the moment. It’s an air-cooled unit, released in January 2018.
