Is the Antminer S7 profitable?

The Bitmain Antminer S7 mines Bitcoin on the SHA-256 algorithm at 4.73 TH/s, drawing 1,293 W (273 J/TH). At $0.08 per kWh it earns about $0.18 a day but spends $2.48 on power, so it loses $2.30 a day. It only makes money if your power costs less than about $0.006 per kWh.

That puts it #378 of 522 on daily profit across every miner we track, and #260 of 262 SHA-256 miners on efficiency. It isn’t in stock with us at the moment. It’s an air-cooled unit, released in September 2015.
